Prep Testimonials

"Adhu has learned the concept of odd and even numbers, thanks to you. I was so pleasantly surprised when he answered me correctly yesterday. I didn’t think he would learn it in just 1 lesson! Thank you so much, John."

"Kingston was struggling with both mathematics, literacy and general comprehension. It was causing a lot of stress for our family and in particular Kingston. We wanted him to be confident and enjoy learning.

We hoped one-on-one tuition would give Kingston the general understanding he needed to feel confident in class. We didn’t want to sit by and let him struggle if we could do something to help. By us, I mean Taggart tutors. It was the best decision we made for our child.

From the first call I had with John to the initial consult, you immediately feel like you have made the right decision. Obviously it is an added cost, but having one-on-one tuition we have found so beneficial. We don’t think Kingston would be doing as well as he currently is without John and the team.

We absolutely can’t speak highly enough about John. He has made such a difference to Kingston’s learning and enjoyment for learning.  He is a constant professional and his passion for education/ learning is evident in everything he does for Kingston. He is alway happy and positive always greeting your family with a smile and alway keen to have a chat and catch up. I cannot recommend John enough. In saying that all our interactions with the tutors is wonderful. Kingston knows all the names of the Taggart Tutors team.

John goes above and beyond for our son. We are so very grateful to John and very excited to be part of the family that is Taggart Tutors. We can’t wait for Kingston to grow and move on from one-on-one tutoring to moving forward with computer workshops. Taggart Tutors rocks!"

"Finn had started prep and didn't seem to be catching on quickly. He was quickly losing confidence and falling behind. Henry was disengaged in kindy/schooling and also young in age so we were concerned he wasn't ready to learn and start school.

The aim was to restore Finn’s confidence and quickly close any gaps early before they compounded. Later, we found it great reinforcement so he has stayed on track with his schooling. The aim for Henry was to provide some clarity around whether he was ready for school and then later extension. Our main concerns were finding the right person, flexibility and cost, but all of the tutors we have worked with have all genuinely invested in my boys, nothing is ever too hard. Both my boys are thriving and choose to attend each week which sums up the ethos of the place.

John has been wonderful with Henry. He can be difficult to motivate and he managed to find how to make this happen. Henry has thrived under his teaching. Lily has also been great for Finn. She was so patient and warm helping foster his confidence. We are so appreciative for the support that John and the team have provided our family. We are a long time client and always recommend their services to our friends. We wish Taggart Tutors all the success in the world and look forward to taking this new leap with you all."

"Gaps were identified in 3 of my children’s schoolwork and they weren’t keeping up in the classroom. John was able to identify our kids needs immediately and take them right back to where the gaps originated. They've been building their knowledge from there. All the tutors are amazing, friendly and helpful. The 3 kids love them all! We love having John's tutoring in our lives, it's really helped with their confidence towards learning."

"Sophie had identified memory retention issues which had affected her ability to retain the basic building blocks of maths and English. From a bright engaged child in Prep, at the end of Year 5 Sophie was borderline failing with little belief in herself academically and hating school - with another 7 years schooling ahead of her. Despite much testing at school there were no real learning plans developed to assist Sophie with her perceived learning issues. She wasn't failing badly enough to get the extra help she required despite her obvious struggles.

We sought external help to be able to develop a plan that met Sophie's needs and addressed why Sophie was struggling so much at school. We wanted Sophie to regain the natural self confidence and belief in herself that she had as a small child; to embrace learning as a means to whatever end she wanted to follow. We had previously engaged a private tutor at home to assist Sophie which had not been particularly successful. To be frank we were desperate to try anything that would help Sophie regain confidence and belief in her ability to achieve at school and do whatever it is that she wants to do with her life.

From the first time we met John at the end of Year 5, we felt someone else believed Sophie could achieve and learn. He and the team have instilled in Sophie a belief that she can learn, and achieve academically. From borderline failing at primary school to Sophie walking on stage at the end of Year 8 to collect an academic achievers award with confidence and belief in herself again, it has been a journey. The road has been undeniably rocky at times.  Sophie is now in Year 11 and continues to attend tutoring with John and the team, at her request. In her own words " I could do the school work without tutoring but tutoring helps me to make so much more sense of it all".

Sophie has had several tutors in her time with John. Emma, Laura and Shay all stand out in guiding Sophie through her High School work. The time taken to find tutors that are a good fit for a student has always been appreciated. John's educational expertise and multilinear approach to teaching and learning has assisted our family greatly over the last 5 years. For Sophie as a struggling student who had lost belief in herself, and for us as parents who were searching for someone to help us help her, we are truly grateful his service exists as the impact on all our lives has been indefinable."

"Allegra needed both confidence and the ability to complete maths to a mid Grade 3 standard. We were concerned tuition may not be successful, but Allegra has gained the confidence and the ability to now complete her maths quickly and with very minimal mistakes. We would recommend Taggart Tutors and especially Allegra’s tutor Brock because the outcomes were great."

"Emily was having difficulty with all facets of English including spelling & handwriting; she started visiting the Centre in 2014, Grade 1. From the initial consultation, John was able to identify that Emily wasn’t processing information in a logical way and needed assistance to be able to achieve in a formal school setting. We hoped that tutoring would help correct Emily's way of processing information to allow her to thrive in a classroom environment. Emily went from failing English and Maths and being totally lost, to eagerly engaging in school work and passing her subjects. Making the decision to address Emily’s issues early, even though they were in their infancy, set her up for future success. Emily is still successfully passing subjects, even in her first year of high school this year. The tools and techniques that tutoring has provided Emily have given her the building blocks and skills to continue to develop and apply to future learning.

John has been Emily’s tutor from the very beginning. His dedication and commitment to Emily’s growth over the years has been exceptional and has made a significant impact on us personally as well as Emily academically. John is someone who lives, breathes and loves what he does and it shines through him in every way. We are so grateful to John for his professionalism and caring nature. The relationship and dedication that John provides to all his clients is exceptional. He takes the time to thoroughly explain the gains that can be expected and the reasons for the approach taken. Most recently John worked with us to tailor Emily’s sessions to ensure we were able to measure the skills being taught and ensure an improved understanding of the content for Emily."

James was challenged by comprehension and spelling, and we hoped to increase his confidence / self belief, and fill in any identified missing gaps in the area of need. We were cautious about the effectiveness of tuition and the tutor/student relationship, but from the very first meeting with John, he gave us time, passion and confidence that he understood the need and would engage James exactly where he was at.

After accepting the fact that there were clear gaps that weren't necessarily being addressed at school, we decided we would enrage a tutor to allow our son a fair chance in the classroom. After the first year, aside from the obvious advancements in his English capacity, what I love seeing is a partnership between the tutors and James. They encourage independence and I feel like this is a byproduct that is just as important as academia.

I want to give a specific shoutout to Lily and to John. You have always greeted us all with a smile and an enthusiasm that is very reassuring. I couldn't support John more in his new business endeavour. Local business is vital to a community and someone as dedicated as John deserves nothing but success.

"Freya was struggling with Maths, and we hoped to fill in the gaps in her knowledge/skill base and increase her confidence to allow her to move forward in her learning. Freya was very shy and she was very anxious about going to tuition. John took the time to engage with Freya and put her at ease. He went out of his way to make sure she felt comfortable and provided a place for her to feel safe and relaxed to be able to participate in the program. Both John and the tutors always spoke easily about the progress she had made or the things she had struggled with displaying a genuine understanding of her as a learner.

We could not have hoped for a better team to support Freya in this journey - particularly John, Brock, Lily, Laura, and Nick  In Freya's words - These tutors have really helped me and they always know how to make the learning fun and have a laugh about things too.

We feel so blessed to have discovered John and his expert team of tutors. He has staffed his business with enthusiastic, engaging, knowledgeable people who have a genuine interest in children and helping them achieve and grow. Time and time again, I have seen John weave his magic as he gets down to the level of the learner and finds a way to make them feel comfortable and at ease. He makes genuine connections with the learners and finds ways to encourage and build confidence in them. John models and the team follows mirroring his ability to connect with and grow confidence in the learners in their care. Freya has not only grown in her knowledge and skills but also, and perhaps more importantly, her confidence. She now believes in herself which has allowed her to attempt and complete tasks at school which she previously would not. We are so very grateful to John and his team for showing Freya that she CAN do Maths.

I cannot recommend Taggart Tutors highly enough. You will not be disappointed with the support and care that your child will receive."

High School Testimonials

“Before Taggart Tutors, Phoebe struggled with concentration & motivation to do homework and studystudy, and lacked basic understanding of the questions being asked in assignments as well as a lack of experience in exam conditions. We needed to build confidence in her learning, specifically:
- how to understand of her subjects & assignment questions
- learning how to achieve above average results on her own
- learning how to set out goals and steps required to complete a well balanced, concise assignment
- learning how to study/revise subject matter on her own in preparation for exams

Phoebe has formed a very close bond with John and his tutors (esp Bec and Laura). This has helped her to feel free to ask them anything without fear of shame. It’s almost like Phoebe is meeting up with her friends when she attends the study sessions. She is very comfortable with the whole team.

John could not be any more professional or helpful. He takes all communication with me to the nth degree and ensures all parties are happy with arrangements. John goes above and beyond to assist us with Phoebe’s scheduling and any last minute session requests. A lot of the time these queries are made of John after hours or on weekends, so it is very much appreciated when he responds to me any time of the day.

This tuition team has literally saved Phoebes (education) life. She was in a mess before we signed up for help. Now Phoebe is one of the top scorer students in Yr 12 at KGSC. I am also very thankful for the camaraderie & friendship that has developed between Phoebe and your team. It has helped balance Phoebe’s social skills and confidence in general. These regular study sessions and the positive relationships that have ensued have assisted her to reach important educational milestones. I can't thank you all enough!”

“Before tuition, I was struggling with a lack of academic confidence and a need to achieve high marks. I hoped to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed academically after schooling. The tutoring John and his team provided far exceeded expectations for personalised teaching in a school subject. I was equipped with skills and academic abilities which vastly improved all areas of my study. I not only improved my grades in school, but was able to apply these skills in universities and professional discourse to significant benefit. This tutoring wasn't simply a boost to my school grades, but a boost to my confidence, my potential and my life skills on multiple levels.

I have no doubt that John's tutoring services have continued and will continue to touch students' lives in ways that set them up for life.”

“Thank you so much for all of your help, assistance and emotional reassurance over the last 5 years! I honestly would not have been able to finish Grade 12 and Uni without John and Shay! It has been such an amazing experience and I have learned more from you guys as teachers than I ever have from my uni or school teachers by far! You have truly been so influential in my life and I will be forever grateful.”
